Last weekend, I was busy preparing for Christmas season! Even though, I am not a religious person and wouldn’t mind skipping the actual Christmas, I still love the decoration, the lights, the candles, the smells and the food everywhere around. Not because I believe in god or the traditional Christmas but only because all these things make at least one of the winter months a bit warmer and brighter!
I have a tendency of becoming depressed by cold temperatures and a grey sky but during December, I am feeling much better and thus, I wished Christmas season would be longer (at least until the end of February!!!)
But coming back to my point, I was decorating our flat a bit this past weekend and I found some great new Christmas decoration. In Germany, it is a tradition to light candles during the advent time. Usually, you have a ring out of fir sprigs with four candles on top of them. On the first Sunday in advent time, you light the first one, the next Sunday, you light an additional one and so on until all four candles are lit for Christmas.
I was thinking of going for a bit more modern Christmas decoration this year, so instead of a ring, I bought this beautiful wooden box:
In former years, I preferred red and gold as Christmas colours. Thus, all my Christmas decoration was based on this colour scheme. Being more modern this year, I decided to go for a red/grey/silver/white theme:
Combined with the green fir sprigs, those colours look amazing together, don’t you think?
And here is the final result:
How are you decorating your place this year? Which colour scheme are you using? Please share your ideas!
